Questions

Does anyone know how to measure noise levels and particulate matter in the air?

When a variance requires that noise levels and particulate matter remain at a certain level, how is that measured?  How was that measured in 1984 and what were the results?

What are other legal mechanisms, beside the zoning/variance issue that would give us leverage with IDEM?

Per Adrian Reed, City of Bloomington engineer, there are really no "weight limits" for trucks within the City itself, but Ordinance 2011 applies to County roads only.  NADTTS is waiting on core sample results if they were done with the new intersection at Vernal Pike and Crescent Rd.

Will there be a new building placed on the apparently properly zoned plot (per the City) at JB Salvage and will it fit within that specified area or will it have to be placed in the RS zone?

  1. In this morning's H-T article IDEM has politely told us what our communications need to be focused upon:

“We review the public comments and provide answers to the concerns,” said Barry Sneed, a spokesman with IDEM. “In cases where citizens point something out that is within our authority to act upon, or change, we address the issue. IDEM has no authority to deny Vernal Pike’s permit outside the requirements of the solid waste processing rules and Indiana environmental law.”

If we could focus on areas within “the requirements of solid waste processing and Indiana environmental law” that are violated by the proposed project, we would give IDEM good reason to deny the permit. Who can help with this?
